The Waverley’s Commitment: Protecting our Future Community from COVID-19

    The Waverley’s Commitment
Protecting our Future Community from COVID-19

Health and safety are at the core of The Waverley’s approach to hospitality. Our commitment to our residents and staff continues to inform our decisions as we adapt to continued challenges presented by COVID-19.

As part of our diligence and transparency, we would like to share the current health and safety measures that are being thoughtfully established by our staff at The Waverley.

    Your New Home

    • Ensuring your suite is sanitized and clean is our guarantee.
    • Deep cleaning your new suite after construction has completed
    • Providing complimentary disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer in your suite at move-in

    Cleanliness Training

    • Ensuring increased cleaning thoroughness and execution.
    • The Waverley is building its reputation on a high standard for cleanliness and will ensure staff are practicing best-in-class cleaning practices
    • To ensure our cleaning processes are kept in line with instruction from local health authorities, a Cleanliness Ambassador will lead our staff on how to ensure community safety

    Physical Distancing

    • A proven way to reduce the spread of COVID-19 is through physical distancing, we will do our part to support these efforts.
    • Residents and staff should stand at least two meters (six feet) away from other people
    • Allowable capacities in spaces have been decreased including limiting elevators to a maximum of two people
    • Distance between furniture has been increased in common area spaces
    • Certain gathering areas will be marked with signage to remind residents and staff to keep a safe distance
    • Residents should avoid non-essential social interactions and suite visits from family and friends until restrictions have been lifted

    Staff & Resident Health Concerns

    • A clear and concise escalation plan is in place to handle suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19. Our plan respects staff and resident privacy while keeping the health and safety of our staff and residents our priority.
    • Staff will respond promptly to staff and resident health concerns and follow local public health guidelines
    • Staff who are feeling ill are mandated to stay home
    • Staff exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be required to self-isolate from the onset of symptoms and follow public health procedures before returning to work
    • If a resident starts to feel ill, they will be encouraged to contact Toronto Public Health for direction and assistance

    Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

    • Initiatives are in place to ensure our community is equipped with protective gear and reminded of good hygiene practices.
    • Signage will be clearly displayed describing good hygiene practices
    • All maintenance staff members will wear a face covering, gloves and booties as part of their uniform
    • Personal face masks will be offered to residents
    • Staff are trained on the proper way to wear, handle and dispose of PPE, as well as the appropriate way to wash hands, sneeze and avoid touching their faces

    Deeper, More Frequent Cleaning

    • Cleaning and sanitization of our frequently used common spaces is of prime importance to us.
    • Enhanced cleaning protocols to disinfect every space, especially during peak hours
    • Occupancy counters provide real-time data on peak common area usage to establish when cleanings are most required
    • Frequently disinfecting all high-touch items like elevator buttons and common area door handles
    • Touchless hand sanitation stations (utilizing sanitizers proven to kill COVID-19 as recommended by the Government of Canada) will be added to all common areas

    Use of Technology

    • We are reviewing and implementing available technologies to ensure added community safety.
    • Bluetooth beacons will be installed in common areas providing real-time occupancy and the time the area was last cleaned

    Thermal Screening

    • Limiting entry from those experiencing flu-like symptoms is key to reducing the spread of COVID-19 at The Waverley.
    • Discreet and non-invasive temperature checks for staff and vendors to be completed at entry points
    • Those with a temperature at or over 38 °C (100.4°F) may be denied entry and will be directed to appropriate medical care
    • At a minimum, vendors will be screened on whether they have travelled recently and if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms

    Less Contact, More Connection

    • We will work to limit community contact with others.
    • Using mobile key technology for accessing suites and common areas to reduce surface contact
    • QR code readers for visitor entry
    • Electronic parcel lockers to minimize person to person contact
    • Using the digital notifications board through The Waverley app
    • Encouraging residents and staff to communicate via Zoom, phone or email to limit in-person interactions
    • Resident greetings will be modified to a nod, wave or smile until handshakes are deemed appropriate by local health authorities

    Food & Drink Offerings

    • Enhanced safety protocols are in place at locations where food and beverages are served.
    • The Waverley will be working with Boxcar Social, our on-site food and beverage operator, to ensure food safety protocols are amplified
    • Our leasing centre will offer single-use and disposable coffee cups
    • Food and snack offerings in our leasing centre will be pre-packaged
    • Food delivery couriers are not permitted in the lobby until restrictions have been lifted – residents are asked to meet their delivery courier outside the lobby

Community safety is our highest priority. As the climate and guidance continue to change, we will update our safety measures based on the latest and most qualified information to ensure the health of our community.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
